How can I register generated and returned electricity in Smarttrackers?

Method 1

For a complete overview of electricity consumption, it's best to create three types of gauges using the gauge templates:

  • Electricity usage Grey or Green
  • Electricity generated
  • Electricity returned to the grid

Electricity Consumption Grey or Green: Here you enter the purchased electricity, usually obtained from the invoice(s) of the energy supplier(s). You can choose the green electricity consumption when you have Certificates of Origin (GvO's) from your supplier.

Electricity Generated: Here you record the total amount of self-generated (solar) electricity as indicated on the inverter meter.

Electricity returned to the grid: Here you enter the negative value of the amount of electricity returned to the grid

With this methjod, the calculation for total CO2 emissions (market and location-based), energy usage, and total electricity used, you will always get an accurate result. Returned electricity must not be credited in the CO2 footprint but must be subtracted for your total energy usage.

For companies certified for the CO2-Performance Ladder, returned electricity can be reported as an avoided CO2 emission. This can be combined with other emissions labeled as avoided emissions.

There are also other ways to register generated and returned electricity. We advise using Method 1 in most cases. If you're in doubt, please contact the service desk.
